Server Administration

Internal Advertisement:

For our clients' servers at their locations, we administer:

  • Microsoft Windows NT 4 Server
    • Yes, many of our nonprofit clients are still using Windows NT 4.  We will support it for the foreseeable future, even though Microsoft does not.
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
    • Some of our clients are using Windows 2000 Server. Though we help them support it, we encourage them to move to Windows 2003 Server when they have the resources.
  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
    • We set up all new hardware servers with Windows 2003 Server.  Especially with a much-improved Active Directory, it provides better security, stability, compatibility and administration than do Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000.
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    • This product needs an administrator who understands its configuration in detail, and knows how to secure it.  We have this expertise.  Let us administer it for you.
Lotus Business Partner
  • Lotus Domino E-mail Server 4.x & 5.x
    • Domino directories, user accounts, Web access to mail files, POP, IMAP, SMTP, anti-spam measures, etc. are difficult to configure and to maintain. We make it easy.
  • ARCserve backup server
    • After your personnel, your most valuable asset are your data.  We will create a strategy and/or manage backup for you.  We also administer other backup products.
  • Hardware servers from IBM, HP/Compaq, Dell, local companies, etc.
    • Dealing with technical support, fixing hardware conflicts, etc. may not be the primary responsibility of anyone at your organization.  Let us do it for you.
    • For purchasing new servers, we will help our clients:
      • specify their needs (determine for which purposes the server will be used)
      • find the best servers at the lowest cost (we know how to find good bargains)
      • set them up (assemble components, define RAID arrays, etc.)
      • install the appropriate operating system and applications
      • configure security to the best settings
      • test that everything is working
